Professor Paul Statham, SCMR Director, has just returned from a kick-off meeting in Bangkok for the Sussex Mahidol Migration Partnership (SMMP), that is funded by a grant award from the International Research Partnerships and Networks (IRPN) scheme at the University of Sussex.

At Mahidol, Paul met with Prof Sureeporn Punpuing, Director of the Institute for Population and Social Research (IPSR) and Prof Aphichat Chamratrithirong, Director of the Mahidol Migration Center (MMC), and their colleagues to discuss ideas for future research collaborations, funding opportunities and exchanges of staff and knowledge. Plans were laid out that aim to deepen research initiatives and links between Mahidol and Sussex and extend the network to other Migration centres in Europe and SE Asia. Specifically, discussions covered
